May 5th marked Day 2 of a Kart Series doubleheader at Atlanta Motorsports Park. The sun shined brightly overhead, offering a stark contrast to Saturday’s downpours. With a warm and sunny forecast, racers were gearing up for optimal racing conditions. The contrast in weather promises a thrilling day filled with fast laps, intense competition, and exciting race dynamics.
We start our race recap with the LO206 Seniors Pre-Final. The field would take the green two by two, led by Ryan Fiorentino (2). Fiorentino is a member of the Will Bite Racing team, who had an amazing showing of drivers in this division with 5 drivers in total. Carson Craig (55) and Wesley Bacon (06) would make up the remainder of the top 3. All three would pull ahead of the rest of the pack and have a small race within a race.

Halfway through, the top 5 would remain unchanged. The Will Bite Racing team would continue their dominance in the LO206 Senior division. Juan Pablo Garcia (98) would become a factor in the closing laps of the Pre-Final. Garcia would catch the train of Will Bite drivers at the beginning of the esses. He would eventually get the opportunity to make a pass for third, but Bacon would pinch him off and he would have to settle for a P4 starting position for the Final.
Fiorentino would start along side his teammate Craig for the Final. The field would turn themselves into a 20-kart long snake, slithering up and down the 16 turn road course. Three laps in, trouble would strike for Austin Cline (101), who was running in the 15th position. Cline would make slight contact with another driver in turn two, causing him to spin into the wall.

The top 3 would consist of the Will Bite team, and they would pull to a sizeable 1.5 second lead. Sam Avrutsky (125) and Danny May (999) would round out the top 5 with four laps remaining. Lapped traffic would play a small factor with 3 laps to go. The leaders would come up quickly on our lapped driver but he would yield and let them pass.
Bacon would try to take advantage of a slight mistake from Craig in turn 18. The door would close on him before he had the opportunity to make a complete pass. As the white flag flew, Fiorentino, Craig, and Bacon would remain 1-2-3. At the end of the backstretch, Bacon would make his move around Craig. Craig would swing his kart inside and Bacon would take to the high side to attempt the pass. Again, Craig would hold his own and keep Bacon behind him. They would cross the line the same way they took the white.
