Every week, Liberty Racing Review picks four separate drivers who stand out from the rest in their respective racing disciplines. The disciplines featured in these weekly accolades include NASCAR, Road Racing, Asphalt Tracks, and Dirt Tracks. You can find further information as to what is deemed as being award-worthy in the descriptions of each discipline below.
NASCAR
The NASCAR Driver of the Week award is usually bestowed upon whoever wins the NASCAR Cup Series race that week, but there are sometimes exceptions. If a certain driver has a great weekend running multiple races, such as the NASCAR Xfinity Series race as well as the NASCAR Cup Series race, that could be deemed worthy of being Driver of the Week. Another example could be that if there is no NASCAR racing action one weekend, but a NASCAR driver competes in some other type of event, they could be crowned as NASCAR Driver of the Week.
Road Racing
The Road Racing Driver of the Week award is granted to whoever we deem as having the most noteworthy win or achievement of the week. While we tend to focus on the NTT Indycar Series for this award, we also pick worthy candidates from Formula 1, IMSA, and the Supercars Championship among other series when applicable.
Asphalt Tracks
Asphalt Short Tracks are what LRR covers the most, and as such, the Asphalt Track Driver of the Week is typically granted to the most notable winner of whatever event we attend. However, since we try to focus on Super Late Model and Pro Late Model drivers for this award, we might not always pick someone from an event we are covering. In circumstances such as a doubleheader weekend, we might not pick a winner, but instead elect to choose the driver with the highest average finish of the weekend.
Dirt Tracks
The recipient of the Dirt Track Driver of the Week award is typically the winner of a big event being held by any number of dirt sanctioning bodies. We include drivers from the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Late Models, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, and more. It is also not outlandish to see NASCAR drivers be in contention for this award, whether it be for an impressive performace in a NASCAR-held dirt race or even in a race held by another sanctioning body.
