Davis, Salter, and Benedict Score Local Victories at Montgomery Motor Speedway

Montgomery, AL — The ‘Southern Shootout’ event at Montgomery Motor Speedway featured three local classes in addition to the headlining Must See Racing Sprint Cars.

Charles Davis, Chris Salter, and Brian Benedict all scored victories in their respective feature events at the historic half-mile facility.

Charles Davis Remains Unstoppable in Street Stock Competition

Charles Davis has shown no signs of slowing down after his impressive summer stretch has continued into the fall. Having to start from the sixth position, Davis methodically worked his way through the field en route to yet another Street Stock victory.

By the midway point of the 35-lap Street Stock event, it was clear that no one would claim the bounty put on Davis by Chestnut Creek Materials at the last event. The $500 bounty will remain up for grabs when Street Stocks return to Montgomery Motor Speedway later in October.

Davis’s victory should also prove to be fruitful in his drive towards the 2025 track championship in the Street Stock class this year, as he came into the weekend just four points behind Will Smith and Dawson Parker, who were tied for the points lead.

“I can’t thank this place enough,” said Davis in victory lane. “I’ve got two of the best people in the world behind me. One is the good Lord, Jesus Christ, and the other is my wife.”

Behind Davis, Charlie Melvin came home in second after having to start the race from the rear. Kameron Wesenberg rounded out the podium, with Dawson Parker and Nicky Pate rounding out the top five.

Chris Salter’s Impeccable Crown Stock Season Continues

Chris Salter’s impressive season in Crown Stock racing has gotten even more noteworthy, with Salter claiming his third win of the season at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Salter’s points lead at Montgomery is even more comfortable now, as the series prepares for its final two races of the season.

The victory comes the day after Salter finished second at Five Flags Speedway behind his brother, Adam. As a result of the two podium finishes, Salter claimed the $500 bonus for the best average finish between the two tracks.

Salter also won a random drawing earlier in the evening for $500. Combine those two bonuses with an increased purse for both events, and it’s safe to say Salter had one impressive payday in Central Alabama on Saturday night.

“I think we got lucky tonight. Hunter [Lambert] made me earn that,” remarked Salter in victory lane. “I didn’t think I had anything for Austin [Reeves] tonight. We had bad luck to start the day, but we turned it around.”

Brian Benedict Scores Legacy Victory in Division’s 2025 Montgomery Debut

Texas native Brian Benedict picked up a dominant victory in the Legacy feature at Montgomery Motor Speedway, but a late-race restart made him work for it.

A single-car spin with just three laps remaining resulted in a restart that somewhat shook up the running order, but Benedict held strong. Holding off a hard-charging Delilah May, Benedict had his hands full as he closed out the feature at the half-mile racetrack.

The Legacy Cars aren’t a usual division at Montgomery, with the 5/8-scale machines mainly competing in Texas and the Gulf Coast. However, they definitely put on a show in their first visit to Montgomery Motor Speedway in 2025.

“What a beautiful track this is. It was a lot of fun,” said Benedict in victory lane. “A lot of us travelled a long distance to come out here, and we thank y’all for the opportunity to do that.”

The next event at Montgomery Motor Speedway, the Alabama State Championship, will serve as the final points-paying race in 2025 for both the Show Me The Money Pro Late Models and the Modifieds of Mayhem tour. Street Stocks and Crown Stocks will participate as well. The Alabama State Championship will be held on Saturday, October 18th.
