Tennessee Racers Score First Wins at Montgomery in Twin 72-Lappers

August 24, 2025

Montgomery, AL — A pair of 72-lap features at Montgomery Motor Speedway’s ‘Saturday of Speed’ saw a pair of Tennessee racers score their respective first victories at the historic Alabama half-mile.

Aidan Potter and Hunter Wright made their respective trips south to Alabama to run in the penultimate event of the 2025 Show Me The Money Pro Late Model Series season, and both drivers managed to pilot their machines to victory lane.

Aidan Potter Scores Breakthrough Victory

Aidan Potter’s path to victory lane has been a tumultuous one, with several incidents and setbacks plaguing his journey. On Saturday night however, nothing could stop Potter and his Fetcho Motorsports team en route to their first victory together.

Pacing the field in practice, qualifying, and the entirety of the first 72-lap feature, Potter had almost no opposition. Making it look easy, Potter was rightfully emotional after he took the checkered flag and parked his no. 68 in victory lane.

“I crossed the checkered flag and just, tears. It was three years, 1100 days that I didn’t win anything,” said Potter to Liberty Racing Review. “To win something in these cars against this kind of competition, it means a lot.”

“I was the guy nobody liked, hated really. These incredible people in this Fetcho crew saw something in me. They wanted to bring me back to this area, they knew I had something. I’ve made a lot of dumb mistakes, but it feels nice to get that win and prove that I do belong here, I’m not some phony.”

Behind Potter, Garrett Gumm and Hunter Wright rounded out the podium positions. Jim Wall and John Bolen rounded out the top five.

Hunter Wright Adds Montgomery Win to his Résumé

Much like Aidan Potter did in the first 72-lap feature, Hunter Wright started up front for feature two. By virtue of the redraw, Wright would lead the field to green for the final feature of the night, never looking back.

The second feature wasn’t as straightforward as the first, with a few early cautions shaking things up in the second Pro Late Model contest. One such caution came at the expense of Race 1 winner, Aidan Potter. Contact with Stacey Crain resulted in Potter making hard contact with the outside wall, ending his night.

Despite the early pauses and disruptions, Wright had little opposition on his way to the victory. Despite Wright’s prowess in short track competition across the southeast, Saturday night saw his first victory at Montgomery.

“Little bit of luck never hurts,” said Wright. “We drew a one, had more left side tire left over than the top two did after the first race. I’m just glad we finally got a win here. It’s a fun track. Stan [Narrison] does a great job, just wish we could get a few more cars.”

“Learned in the first race that there really wasn’t a lot of tire management. [Potter and Gumm] never drove it straight off the corner and they just kept driving away. Never got a caution either to kinda re-rack things. I’m a long race guy. It was fun, it was different, but I’m ready to get back to 100, 125-lappers.”

Behind Wright, Jim Wall and Garrett Gumm would round out the second race’s podium. John Bolen and Taylor Corum rounded out the top five.
