Cannon McIntosh Rallies to Epic Comeback Victory in the BC39

July 3, 2025

Speedway, IN — It wasn’t a conventional route to victory lane for Cannon McIntosh during Wednesday night’s BC39, but the destination was still the same.

The Oklahoma native wheeled his Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports machine to a second BC39 victory in as many years, becoming the first individual to win the marquee midget car racing event multiple times.

The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway seemed to force McIntosh to dig himself out of a hole from the get-go on Wednesday night. Starting the evening with a big flip in his qualifier race, McIntosh had to race his way into the main event via the B-Main, which he won.

Starting deep in the field in 19th, McIntosh slowly but surely worked his way through the field and became a factor at the end of the race when misfortune struck for Justin Grant.

Grant, who was the dominant car of the week, got into a late-race duel with Jacob Denney. Lap 36 proved to be fatal to Grant’s hopes of victory, as he banged wheels with Denney twice, leading to a flat left-front tire on Grant’s machine.

With Grant now compromised, McIntosh found himself in second place when the yellow flag flew with two laps remaining. On the ensuing restart, McIntosh would ultimately emerge victorious after sliding past Denney and Gavin Miller while coming to the white flag.

From there, no one could catch him.
