Pensacola, FL — It wasn’t long ago that Jackson Boone thought he may not sit behind the wheel of a race car in any capacity again, but a podium finish at Five Flags Speedway showed that the Tennessee driver might just have at least a little more left in the tank.
At this point last year, Jackson Boone was undergoing series health issues following a rough crash in the 2023 Snowball Derby.
The crash knocked Boone unconscious, leaving the Tennessean with a concussion that proved to administer some long-term effects on his health.
Despite this, Boone ultimately did get back behind the wheel, competing sporadically across 2024 until funding eventually dissipated. Boone’s performance behind the wheel was also a victim of the injuries brought on by the Snowball Derby crash.
“After I had that wreck, I really wasn’t sure what was going to happen,” said Boone. “It took me a while to get to the point where I could drive on the interstate, much less drive a race car.”
However, Boone secured a somewhat newfound venture in 2025, competing in select races with Fetcho Motorsports in Super Late Model competition.
The first outing for the pair saw Boone score a 15th place finish in the ASA STARS Sunshine State 200. Despite being back in the top level of Deep South short track racing, Boone kept searching for a certain spark—a moment that let him know he could be competitive once more.
Boone found that spark in Friday’s Southern Super Series Pensacola Sports 100, once again joining forces with Fetcho Motorsports.
Boone’s day was fast from the start, pacing the field in the event’s first practice session. Boone then would qualify in third, but would actually lead the field to green by virtue of the redraw.
From there, Boone secured a solid third place finish, coming home behind winner Cole Butcher and a young talent in Carson Brown.
For Boone, the podium finish virtually felt like a win.
“I would say this is probably the most ‘losingest’ win I’ve ever had, if you can call ‘losingest’ a word,” Boone chuckled. “Usually I don’t ever celebrate a third place finish, but this is a win for us.”
“All glory goes to God. This has been such a great opportunity. Two months ago, I didn’t even think I was going to drive a race car again. We made a special deal happen [with Fetcho Motorsports] and I can’t complain at all.”
“To come out here and run with the best in the country, it’s ridiculous. I’d say I’m definitely back to swinging form and we’re looking for a heavyweight matchup.”
Despite the respectable result and joyous emotion that the finish brought Boone and crew, the future remains uncertain for the Franklin, Tennessee native.
“Right now, I’ll be honest, we have about zero dollars. Everything has been an opportunity where we’ve been able to use other people’s resources to capitalize.”
“Going race-to-race, all we can do is pray about it and have faith in the process. I’m going to do what God wants me to do, whether this is my last race ever or not.”
The podium finish for Boone showed that the pairing between him and Fetcho Motorsports could prove to be a winning one if the right cards are dealt—both behind the scenes financially as well as on the track physically.
Boone closed his comments on the night’s run with a message for any potential individuals or companies taking note of his performance.
“If anybody wants to sponsor a race team or race car, you know who to call.”
