A weekend of Super Late Model action across the Heart of Dixie has resulted in two noteworthy victories for Garrett Smith and Brandon Overton.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series made two stops in the Yellowhammer State over the course of the weekend, starting at Buckshot Speedway on Friday and wrapping up the weekend at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Garrett Smith Dominates at Buckshot
Clanton, AL — No one could touch Garrett Smith when the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series visited the Central Alabama bullring known as Buckshot Speedway.
Starting from the pole and leading all 40 laps, Smith cruised to his first victory of the Spring Nationals season. Smith also took home a grand prize of $7,553 alongside the victory.
Behind Smith, Cody Overton came home in the runner-up position. Dylan Knowles rounded out the podium in third. Jordy Nipper and Dillon Tidmore rounded out the top five.
For Smith, this win was an emotional one as he detailed in victory lane.
“God is good, man,” said Smith. “I feel like I’ve been kind of doubting myself and I’ve just been talking to Him and reading some stuff and just trying to get my motivation up. I’ve been struggling here lately, but we’ve been working hard.”

Brandon Overton Emerges Victorious at East Alabama
Phenix City, AL — For Brandon Overton, Saturday’s Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals triumph at East Alabama Motor Speedway was hard-earned.
After starting in third place, Overton had to clash with Tyler Erb for the lead in the early stages of the race before he eventually sailed to victory lane and a $10,053 payday.
Erb would have to settle for second, with another Overton finishing in third in the form of Cody Overton. Wil Herrington and Ethan Dotson rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth places respectively.
For Brandon Overton, the victory did not come easy, but he was in good company during his fight for the lead.
“Tyler Erb is my buddy,” said Overton in victory lane. “I wasn’t going to run into him and he wasn’t going to run into me, but I guarantee he wasn’t going to give me much room out there. Hard racing, hell of a race track.”
