History
The Alabama 200, which first ran in 1960, will see its 61st running take place in 2025. Crash Bond took home the first ever Alabama 200 victory, with Casey Roderick winning most recently in 2024.
Augie Grill, who was mentioned earlier in this story, holds the record for the most Alabama 200 wins with five to his name. Grill won four in a row from 2008 to 2011, with his latest triumph in the event coming in 2019.
Other big names in the realm of stock car racing have had success in the Alabama 200. Names such as Richard Petty, Ronnie Sanders, Red Farmer, and Donnie Allison all have parked machines in victory lane at the Montgomery event.
A more relevant name in modern stock car competition, that being NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott, has also taken home a pair of bear trophies.
The aforementioned bear trophy is, in itself, another pillar of recent Alabama 200 history. The unique trophy was created shortly following Stan Narrison’s introduction as promoter of the facility roughly a decade ago. The hand-carved wooden bear stands as a special keepsake that drivers strive to take home when all racing action is said and done.
Divisions Competing
Pro Late Models will serve as the featured division at this year’s Alabama 200, with this race serving as the season-opener for Montgomery’s Show Me The Money Pro Late Model Series.
Joining the Pro Late Models will be the Modifieds of Mayhem tour, who will see the start of their 2025 season unfold at the event as well. The Modified feature will be 61 laps in length, honoring the 61st year of the event’s running.

Friday, February 28th will serve as a practice and tech day for race teams, with Saturday, March 1st featuring final practices, along with qualifying and racing action.
