Montgomery, AL — With the storied Alabama 200, a Southern Super Series date, Modifieds of Mayhem races, and even more noteworthy racing action, Stan Narrison has a lot on his plate heading into the 2025 Montgomery Motor Speedway season.
Narrison, who serves as Montgomery’s general manager and promoter, was the featured guest on the most recent episode of Liberty Racing Review’s “Hot Laps of Liberty” livestream, where he discussed the upcoming season.
First and foremost, Narrison directed his attention to the biggest race of the 2025 campaign, that being the season-opening Alabama 200, which is set to be held on March 1st.
“The heritage that goes along with the Alabama 200, the history, it’s just fantastic. From the folks that have won the race not only recently, but also going all the way back. It’s impressive,” said Narrison.
“It’s been a Super Late Model race, it’s been a Sportsman race, and it’s been a Pro Late Model race. Right now, we’re in the Pro Late Model world. We decided to go that way just because we wanted to reward our guys here. The Pro Late Model division is fantastic.”
The Alabama 200 serves as the first race of 2025 for Montgomery’s Show Me The Money series, the namesake for the track’s yearly Pro Late Model championship.
While Show Me The Money competition is the flagship of Montgomery’s racing product, Narrison also took the time to discuss other noteworthy dates on the calendar.
One such date mentioned was the Southern Super Series’ Rumble by the River, scheduled to be held on June 7th.
“The Rumble by the River, which has the Southern Super Series Super Late Models and our Pro Late Models, we tried that last year and it was a big success. I’m really looking forward to it,” said Narrison.
“It’s not cheap to bring in Supers and Pros for a race like that, but the fans wanted to see it and I was amazed at the rumble you’d hear from people.”
Super Late Models, the undisputed top tier of Deep South pavement short track racing, are a definite highlight on Montgomery’s 2025 schedule. However, Narrison says that he’s most excited for a particular local class that is slated to have its biggest season yet.
“Our Street Stock division, at times it’s really our best show. We’ve got everything. We’ve got personalities young and old, we’ve got some that the crowd boos and some that they cheer. It’s the perfect thing for a short track,” said Narrison.
“For the Street Stocks, we’re doing a tri-track triple crown between here, Pensacola, and Mobile. It’s taken a lot of cooperation with Eddie [Shoemaker] at Mobile and Tim [Bryant] at Five Flags. I made some concessions, they made some concessions. Our cars aren’t exactly alike, but they’re close enough to where we think they’ll put on some great racing. I definitely wouldn’t miss those. I think that, out of everything, is going to be the most exciting thing this year.”
More local classes that regularly compete at Montgomery are Late Model Sportsmen and Crown Stocks, which will see their fair share of race dates throughout the year.
Narrison has much more to attend to than the sole task of managing things at Montgomery, as he is also the frontman for a regional Modified series, that being the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour.
The tour will both start and end its points-paying season at Montgomery, with a slew of dates at other local short tracks. The series will also hold a headlining date at Montgomery on September 13th. An expanded look at the tour’s schedule can be found here.
