Boschele Claims World Series of Asphalt Super Late Model Championship

February 13, 2025

New Smyrna Beach, FL — Gavan Boschele’s victory in Thursday’s Orange Blossom 100 was just the latest example of dominance from him and the Wilson Motorsports crew, and it resulted in a World Series of Asphalt championship.

Coming into the Super Late Model Orange Blossom 100, the championship battle was mainly between Boschele and Derek Griffith, who were tied atop the standings. With qualifying rained out earlier in the day, said standings determined the starting field.

With Boschele and Griffith starting on the front row, the math was even more simplified if they stayed in the top two.

Winner take all.

Boschele jumped to the early lead and went uninterrupted until a couple of caution flags flew. One caution came when distant championship hopeful Carson Brown was taken out by Cory Hall.

Brown spun off of Hall’s nose on the entrance to Turn 3, slamming the outside wall and ending his World Series. It appeared that the contact was an act of retaliation for Hall, who had been bumped by Brown in the corner prior.

Following this incident, it was much of the same up front. Boschele led Griffith, who himself had paced away from the eventual championship bronze medalist, George Phillips.

While Boschele cruised to the win with Griffith remaining in second, George Phillips would be passed by Gabe Sommers for third. Phillips and Ty Fredrickson rounded out the top five.

Boschele’s week included an ASA victory, a 100-lapper victory, a birthday, and a World Series championship to wrap it up. Not too bad of a week for the now 17-year old.

“It’s amazing. Going into this, if you told me I’d be a champion and win the ASA race, I’d be in disbelief. This car was on rails tonight and I’m just the lucky one that gets to drive it,” said Boschele.

“It’s some of the best racing besides the Snowball Derby. The Tuesday field was stacked and every single day was stacked. You’ve really got to be on your toes and these guys will not cut you a break. I loved it and we’ll be back next year.”

Derek Griffith and George Phillips rounded out the podium in the World Series of Asphalt championship standings, which have yet to be fully finalized. However, the race results from Thursday night can be found below.
