Roderick and Campi Reflect on 2024 Season, Roderick Encourages Competitors to Change Status Quo

December 13, 2024

Indianapolis, IN — During the ASA STARS National Tour season banquet, which took place during the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, 2024 drivers champion Casey Roderick and owners champion Anthony Campi took the time to reflect on their season.

“Hopefully we can get some more [trophies] if we can get this deal put together for next year,” said Roderick. “Things are up in the air for me, but I enjoyed racing with all you guys. Thanks to [Anthony Campi] for giving me awesome race cars all year long.”

Team owner and 2024 ASA STARS owners champion Anthony Campi also shared some reflection on the team’s ventures this year and on recent memory in general.

“This idea (the STARS Tour), putting it together, it got a lot of scrutiny at the beginning. I was a skeptic myself, but as we ran and proved the idea, I think we’ve got something pretty big here. I’m excited to be a part of it for years to come.”

“We won the inaugural ASA race together in Pensacola,” added Campi. “We were first or second in points and eventually had to drop out due to funding. I stood up here last year just hoping and praying that we could make the whole season. We had a few wins (in 2024) but we could’ve been a little better.”

“We started this program about 12 years ago in my dad’s backyard, and that’s where we still stay. It’s perceived that we’re a little bigger than we are. We just work hard, working 15-18 hour days to make this happen. We hope we can be back next year.”

“It just takes an army to come to the track and do this as a team. We have 15-20 guys each weekend and it’s just a logistical nightmare, but we make it happen.”

Casey Roderick elected to return to the podium, taking the time to urge his competitors that the status quo for pavement racing needs to change in order for it to succeed.

“You know, us racers, we’ve got a lot on us when bringing cars to the race track,” said Roderick to the room. “It’s our job to help these guys keep us racing. Without us, they don’t have a track to provide us with.”

“I’m terrible at social media. I think you guys here know that. But you know, sitting here thinking about the position I’m in, it’s made me think about a lot of different things. I feel like us racers can come together and help these guys bring more people to the tracks. We need to get in touch.”

“If you watch the dirt platform, they’ve got it going on,” stated Roderick. “We need to do a better job—all of us in this room—to promote asphalt racing. I don’t know what that means for you guys, but I’m going to do a better job for myself and do what I can to promote our sport.”

“Ultimately, we’re the ones keeping it going, right?”

In addition to receiving his awards for the 2024 ASA STARS National Tour season, Roderick was also presented with the 2024 Southern Super Series championship trophy.
