While not being the driver that crossed the finish line first, Zachary Curtis ultimately continued his streak of victories in the Crown Stock Derby 40 at Five Flags Speedway.
The victory was the second Derby 40 triumph for Curtis in as many years, as he won the Snowball Derby preview race previously in 2023.
“We won the Snowball Derby last year,” said Curtis in Victory Lane. “We came back and raced a regular race here and won that. I love this place. It’s so much fun, it’s just such a far drive for us.”
Originally, it was Jay Jay Day who crossed the line first, initially being scored the winner. However, post-race technical inspection saw Day get tossed for washers/spacers on his wheel hubs. Said devices can alter the camber on the cars.
The original second place finisher, Chris Salter, fell victim to post-race inspection as well. Salter’s Crown Stock was deemed illegal due to slotted brake rotors.
Such infractions paved the way for Curtis to claim the official race win.
After the finalization of post-race inspection, Chris Salter’s brother, Adam Salter, was awarded with the official second place finish. Chris Mitchell was officially scored with third place.
