The Moonshine Series at Atlanta Motorsports Park saw intense racing action with an 18-car field of Legend Car competitors.
The race was packed with drama, starting with a turn 1 incident that sent the no. 48 of Kyle Bacon spinning, causing a four car pileup and bringing out the first full-course caution.
On the race restart, more trouble followed as the no. 79 of Neal Dulin spun in turn 2 on lap 2, bringing out another full-course caution. The next restart led to an impressive move by the no. 41 of Michael Gannon, who executed a perfect under-over pass in turn 1 to take the lead.
Gannon looked poised for victory but spun in turn 6 on the final lap, opening the door for the No. 16 of Mason Walters. Walters capitalized on the opportunity and claimed victory in the shortened race, cementing a wild finish to an action-packed event.
“I was watching [Gannon] the lap before. He was getting out of shape coming through (turn) 6. Tough break for the 41 car, once the temperature goes down and the shadows come out you’re gonna loose a ton of grip,” said Walters.
