Jeremy Williams and Tim Moore Split Modifieds of Mayhem Twin-35s

October 20, 2024

The penultimate stop for the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour in 2024 saw not one, but two 35-lap features take place at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

The home track for the tour was host to a makeup date after the Saturday of Speed event was rained out back in July, leading to the two shortened features on Saturday night.

The first feature saw trouble right out of the gate, with front row starter Jaxon Bishop spinning after contact from Brad Stell. Spills and thrills proved to be a trend throughout the Modified features after this incident.

Contact between cars decided the outcome of the first feature in the closing laps as well, with race leaders and championship rivals Jaxon Bishop and Jeff Letson making contact, resulting in a Bishop spin and sending both cars to the back.

This move put Dora, Alabama’s Jeremy Williams in the catbird seat.

Ultimately, the first feature would be conquered by Williams. Williams, the 2024 King of Dixie winner at Sayre Speedway, has also proven to be a championship-caliber threat in the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour.

“It was crazy there at the beginning, just a lot of cars on the track,” Williams told Adam Otwell in victory lane. “You know a short race like this, everybody’s trying to get as much real estate as quick as possible. One guy gets stretched out and it’s over with. Great car tonight. I love this track.”

Jared Maupin finished second and Tim Moore rounded out the podium in third. Veteran Johnny Brazier was fourth, and Jeff Letson rallied back from his incident with Jaxon Bishop to round out the top five.

Tim Moore Scores First Modifieds of Mayhem Victory

The second of the two features saw Tim Moore fight through several wild incidents to take home the victory, his first with the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour.

“We put a lot of money, a lot of time, and a lot of effort into these cars,” said Tim Moore in victory lane. “We don’t always have the speed the other guys have, but we’re always there in the hunt. All these guys are great to race with. It sucks we tore up some cars, but I finally got my win I’ve been searching for and couldn’t be happier.”

The second Modifieds of Mayhem feature had no shortage of action itself, with a Shane Jones spin in the opening laps kicking off a trend of cautions to start the race.

Following that spin, perhaps the biggest incident of the night occurred, in which championship leader Jeff Letson was involved in a multi-car pileup that ended his night.

Jeremy Williams, winner of the first feature, developed a mechanical issue with six laps to go, removing him from the lead and ultimately giving Tim Moore the frontrunner spot.

Jaxon Bishop and Hunter Evans rounded out the podium in second and third respectively, with Kevin Peel finishing in fourth and Louis McGrath rounding out the top five.
