Greg Folger Wins the 2024 SR3 Championship at Atlanta Motorsports Park

The 2024 SR3 Championship at Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) came to a dramatic close as Greg Folger emerged victorious in what is being hailed as the closest points battle in the track’s history.

Folger, a consistent force throughout the season, held off fierce competition from two other standout drivers, Chris Huhn and Caleb Mason, to claim the title. In a year marked by intense racing and tight finishes, only 20 points separated the top three drivers, making it one of the most competitive championships AMP has ever seen.

Folger’s path to victory was anything but smooth. Going into the final race weekend, the championship battle was wide open. Hunn, who had led the standings for much of the season, was looking to lock up the title, while Mason, always a threat with his aggressive driving style, was within striking distance. However, Folger’s methodical approach and consistency paid off in the high-stakes finale.

The championship weekend delivered on its promise of excitement. Fans were treated to thrilling side-by-side racing and some very close call spins as each driver knew that every position could be the difference between winning or losing the title. Huhn and Mason both pushed hard, but Folger’s calm demeanor under pressure and calculated race strategy made all the difference. While Huhn won the final race of the season, it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap to Folger in the overall standings.

Chris Huhn finished second in the standings, just 10 points behind Folger, while David Mason finished a close third, only 20 points further back. The razor-thin margins between the top three drivers underscored the level of competition in the SR3 class this year.

“I knew it was going to be a battle right down to the last lap,” Folger said after securing the championship. “Chris and David are incredible racers, and I knew I had to bring my best every time we hit the track. It’s been an amazing season, and I’m honored to come out on top in such a competitive field. I’m also glad I’m able to keep my parking spot!”

The 2024 SR3 Championship will go down in history as one of the most thrilling at AMP. With just 20 points separating the top three drivers, it’s a testament to the talent and determination of the competitors.
