Roderick Sings a Victory Tune in Music City

July 13, 2024

The North/South Super Late Model Challenge saw stars from the ASA Southern Super Series and ASA/CRA Super Series converge at the historic Nashville short track.

It was Casey Roderick who came out on top, dominating for most of the race and pulling away from Stephen Nasse on the final restart to ensure victory.

Nasse would have to settle for second place, with Bubba Pollard rounding out the podium in his Ricky Turner-prepared machine for this race. Dawson Sutton and Dylan Fetcho finished fourth and fifth respectively.

“It went good from the start. I felt like we needed to take the lead there early and try to control the race as much as we could,” said Roderick. “Had some late-race charges from [Stephen Nasse] that we were able to hold off. He’s been strong at the end of these races. Starting back in the field, he always makes a good charge.”

Tires were a hot topic throughout the night. Gio Ruggiero suffered a blown right front, as did Michael Hinde after Hinde suffered damage from contact with Billy VanMeter earlier in the night.

“I felt like sometimes I’d make the right front a little mad but then I’d back off,” said race winner Casey Roderick. “I did a few things inside the car with my brake bias just trying to help with turn that way.”

Roderick came into the weekend as the ASA Southern Super Series points leader. His big margin atop the championship standings has continued to increase.

Despite the bountiful points situation for Roderick this year, this was his first Super Late Model victory in 2024. He did, however, reach victory lane in the Pro Late Model Alabama 200 in March.

An ASA branded tour return to action next weekend, as the ASA STARS National Tour will hold the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway on July 20th. The event will be ran in conjunction with the ASA/CRA Super Series.
