The road to the Snowflake 100 is now underway after the opening race of the Allen Turner Pro Late Model season at Five Flags Speedway. 2023 Alabama 200 winner Seth Christensen, with undoubtedly one of the best cars he’s ever had, scored a strong statement of a win in the season opener.
Christensen, whose pole-setting lap was just under three tenths of a second off the Pro Late Model track record, found his way towards the front around the midway point of the race. After a close contest with Jason Vail and Augie Grill, Christensen would pull away and never look back.
Christensen took the checkered flag by a margin of just over three seconds over second place finisher Augie Grill. Defending Allen Turner Pro Late Model series champion John Bolen drove from a tenth place starting spot to round out the podium in third.
“It was just a dream come true coming down here. It’s been a long time since I’ve won,” said Christensen. “Non-stop work at the shop gave me a really good car tonight. Qualified good and backed that up with a win.”
Christensen, after kicking off the season with a victory, will have to consider the prospect of starting preparation for the Snowflake 100 in December.
“Before this race it was kinda just one race at a time to be honest. But I feel like after this race, [the Snowflake 100] is definitely something we’ll have to start planning for. We know we have a really good car, we showed that tonight. Hopefully we can come down here later in the year and show out.”
