Atlanta Motorsports Park Summer Racing Series Finale

October 7, 2023

Before we dive into this particular weekend’s action, we would like to apologize for the late arrival of the AMP-related articles. We are working hard to compile all of the results and points to make sure we provide you, the readers, with the best possible reading experience. Without further ado, let’s dive into the action.

The weather was absolutely perfect for the final race of the Atlanta Motorsports Park Summer Series season. The day started with the multi class qualifying race in the DownForce division. Jack Rambo (16) would lead his Praga R1 around the two-mile length course. Chris Huhn (53) would follow overall in second, P1 in SR3 Radical. Pete Folger (77) would secure a P6 start in his SR1 Radical. You might notice a familiar name that was not in the lineup for the Downforce Division, that being Raiden Nicol. Nicol has been selected as a candidate for the Mazda Racing MX-5 Cup Scholarship Program and will be testing in that program the next few weekends.

The first lap of the DownForce main event was full of drama. The green flag dropped for Jack Rambo and his Praga R1. Rambo and fellow Praga driver Shane Anderson battled into turn one. Anderson locked up the brakes and smoke came billowing out, causing a massive pile-up. All cars, besides Anderson, would continue. This would leave Rambo with a massive advantage over the rest of the field. Multiple spins mixed up the podium, as the tricky turn six seemed to be the culprit of four individual spins. Jack Rambo would claim the overall P1 and win the Praga R1 division. Chris Hunn would follow for an overall P2 finish and win the Radical SR3 division. Evan Lowrey (138) would come in at a overall p6 to clinch the win in the SR 1 Radical division.

This wraps up the Summer Racing Series at Atlanta Motorsports Park. This season has been full of ups and downs for multiple drivers. We at LRR would like to thank the wonderful production crew and raceday crew at AMP for all of their hard work this season. We look forward to being back next season to cover all of the racing action.
