It’s race day at Atlanta Motorsports Park! Steve Newbold here for Liberty Racing Review, giving your AMP Race Day report. The temperatures for today’s events were well into the upper 90’s, possibly even the low 100’s. We at LRR hope you are excited for all of your door to door action as we take on the main track road course. We started our day today with Spec Miatas.

The field for today’s Spec Miata race was a little smaller than usual, but the field of four’s action was just as hot as the temperature. Blakely Fabiani led the field to green for the 20-minute main event. After leading over half of the event, Fabiani (85) had a mechanical failure and unfortunately would have to retire early from the race. Keith Williamson (64) would take the lead and maintain his lead all the way to the checkered flag. Bill Miller (5) had a great day and drove his machine to a P2 finish. Jeremy Durst (867) retired his car after lap 6 and would finish P3. Final from Spec Miata; Williamson P1, Miller P2, and Fabiani P3.

The next and unfortunately last event, the Down-Force division. This division consists of sixteen Radical and Praga race cars. Chris Hunn (53) led the field to green for the 20 minute main event. The big story of the day came from 15-year-old Raiden Nichol (93). Raiden started at the rear of the field due to mechanical issues with his Radical SR1. Within the first corner, he had already made up 13 positions and would continue his push up the field the entire race. Hunn and Nichol would battle on every square inch of racing surface, and it was very much needed. Nichol would squeeze his way into the lead right at the halfway point. The battle at the stripe with one to go came to a climax when Shane Anderson (00) locked up his SR10 in turn one narrowly avoiding the entire field. The checkered and yellow flag would be waving with P1 going to Nicol, P2 Alexander, and P3 Hunn.
